Safety & Candle Care
The basic rules are:
Lighting
• Always remove all the packaging and decorative elements before lighting the candle.
• Cut the wick to approximately 1 centimetre to ensure the flame is tame, You can use a wick trimmer or scissors. Long wicks can cause uneven burning, dripping and damage to the glass.
• The first burn is the most important. The candles should burn one hour for every 1 inch in diameter of the actual candle size. (always burn for 3-4 hours to ensure an even melt pool), If the wax is not allowed to melt from edge to edge of the glass or tin, it will create a memory ring, Once a candle has this memory ring, it will continue to tunnel and to burn that way for the life of the candle.
• Place a candle on a plate to ensure the wax is contained in case spillage occurs
• Do not burn it for more than 3 hours at a time; there should be about a 1-hour interval between each set
Burning
• Don’t leave burning candle unattended
• Do not move the candle while it is lit – hot wax could spill
• Burn candles out of reach of children and pets.
• Always leave at least 10cm between burning candles.
• Do not burn candle on or near anything that can catch fire.
• After each subsequent burn, let the wax cool and trim the charred wick off. This stops the candle from smoking and reduces soot on the inside of the container. It also stops the wick from getting too hot and burning your candle too fast.
• Only burn this candle on a level heat resistant surface.
• Never burn this candle for more than 4 hours at a time.
• Never let the flame come into contact with the container, (glass may become hot during use)
• Do not use if the container is cracked, chipped or scratched.
• Allow wax to solidify before relighting, touching or moving.
• Always burn within sight and extinguish before leaving room.
• Extinguish when 5mm / ½ cm of wax remains and do not relight
• Extinguish candles with a candle snuffer. Do not blow them out. Never use water to extinguish a candle. Water can cause the hot wax to splatter and might break a glass container.
• Never use a candle as a night light or while you may fall asleep
